I've just been reading some of the reviews from Florida (where they are apparently freezing their tookus's off! YIKE) Graeme Justin and John have been doing a good talk in with the fans. Or those with the bread for the special packages anyway.......

So I wonder, is it possible that Mike and Ray might be invited or show up for some of these? Man I'd go see that!!!!!!!!!!

Just a thought. Go check TER and MBT if you haven't read these yet, pretty cool.

During one of the Storyteller presentations, Justin said something to the effect that once someone leaves the band, it is like they have left your family.

Most of us keep in touch with former neighbors/coworkers/etc., and the shunning that seems to be a part of ex-Moody Bluesdom is a bit unseemly, especially when it comes from a band whose message is "peace, love and those unfashionable things".

ahhhh-hah...the moodies have been "telling stories", eh? Very Happy

I'll venture there are some some stories they would really like to tell (in their own words) but of course will never surface Laughing which I could imagine would no doubt "ROCK" the audience (lights, action: would someone please unleash Graeme to "set the tone"...? Wink )

so... Luna, what sort of stories are the telling? Razz Wink Please give the "gist" of what they are about (haven't seen much of MBT these days and "I [Really] Haven't Got The Time" for any of the other boards... Rolling Eyes )

cheers Cool

"L"

I wish some writer would tackle an in-depth, book-length history of The Moody Blues. I'm not particularly hopeful this will actually happen and I doubt if the band members would be willing to cooperate given their penchant for privacy. I haven't seen any of The Moody Blues books that have been written but, frankly, they all look like coffee table books and not very interesting.

I wouldn't get on an airplane and travel any great distance to see any rock concert but a Moody Blues gig with Mike Pinder on keyboards might make me change my mind! In the meantime, I'll have to settle for the Justin, John and Graham shows and I've got tickets for three shows this week (Red Bank and Montclair, NJ)!

Reeldigger, I have done the biography, quite in depth, and not salacious....... but I'm afraid of lawsuit, and still waffling over publishing. Have faith...... I'm very close or I wouldn't say anything. Maybe others are in the chute too...

I hope this isn't true, but I think Justin might have been a little miffed with Graeme over his raunchy comments. PLEASE DO NOT QUOTE ME ON THAT, it's just a general feeling. But I hope not, Graeme is slightly naughty, but it's a gentlemanly ribaldry, you know?

Overall the Storyteller things have been wonderful, from what I can tell. Everyone's happy.

You have one customer over here once you publish it... which hopefully will be soon. Did you use anyone in the Moody Blues organization as a source?

I suspect there are many sensitive areas when you're writing about the group. They were so 60s in their poetry, lyrics, personal philosophies and what-not, so insistent in their peace/love/spirituality theme that, in a sense, they set themselves up for charges of hypocrisy and inconsistency when it came time to making hard-nosed business decisions. I remember being slightly taken aback when I first noticed them playing an Atlantic City gig back in the 90s. I even mentioned to a fellow Moodies fan that it seemed somewhat unseemly for the group to be playing amongst the slot machines, gaming tables and the glitz of Trump City. Justin Hayward himself voiced similar concerns when they started getting bookings in Las Vegas.

A few postings back someone quoted JH, nixing the idea of a Mike Pinder reunion with the group, saying that once you leave a family, it's forever. The first thing that came into my head was, boy, I sure wouldn't be in that guy's family! So much for peace and love! It's the sort of attitude I would expect from, say Mick Jagger but coming from Justin Hayward, it does raise eyebrows.

I did have a couple of "inside sources" at one time, but they were suspect (and name droppers to boot! Sigh the things I've endured to get information!) So for the most part, the research all comes from articles and such. No, the band is very unresponsive to all biographical requests. And after writing it, I do prefer it be unauthorized to protect them........ as they didn't ask for the biography, you know?

Yeah I think it would sell, so I must buckle down and finish up. Sorry I shouldn't lead people on........ it's ALL out there if you just want to do the research. I don't have any edge, lots of folks could write it, if they would just get to work!!! Laughing

I don't know about sensitive.......... Justin and Graeme are quite open about doing drugs over the years. They are publicly very non political (which is one reason I love them so much! Seriously!!!) They are all very human, and they all have flaws and strengths.

I think Justin is working on his biography, if you haven't read his blogs, you should, they are pretty good. Graeme is alleged to have started one too, I sent him some info I had put together to help him along (no word back of course) I wish all the band would do such things.

I have no reason to place any of them on my "sh*t list", nor on a pedestal. I just dig the music!!!! Only one of the "sidemen" turned out to be a geek, which is a good percentage I think. They are all flawed, and all gifted. Yes I've had the "pleasure" of hearing Justin's "unhappy" voice, I'm just glad I wasn't the target! LOL.......
