Mike released his 2nd solo CD in 1994. Today the message for the world is just as timely and beautiful. True freedom is spread around us, right here, right now, today. It seems only fitting that Mike has chosen to re-master that music and message in 2008!
Here are a few reviews from the web, from listeners, like you.
M. Kessler says, "This album has been out for 13 years (so far) and I'm still listening to it monthly. That's the sign of a great album when you keep coming back to it."
Connie says, "This is my first Mike Pinder solo album, but I don't think it will be my last. Here Mr. Pinder combines his spirituality and thoughtfulness with family friendliness, and the result is a wonderful collection of clean, adult contemporary songs rich in melody and fantastic production values."
Lee says, "This project features very inspiring songs about love, romance, family, life and concern for the well being of our planet. It is transparently clear that after all these years, Michael still possesses strong musical talent instrumentally, lyrically, vocally and spiritually."
In a galaxy far far away (the Decca Studio control room) Mike and Tony share a conversation on how to make the mellotron beep go around your head in stereo onThinking Is The Best Way To Travel.
Or some other musical creation the two would be brewing up.
This year Mike and Tony Clarke reunited to work on the 2nd CD from the Pinder Brothers. Tony stayed a month in California, working along side of Mike at the recording console. It was like old times. Both Mike and Tony are certainly in their element sitting at the helm of the spaceship.
Many evenings each week Mike and Tony stayed up into the wee hours discussing their love and vision of art, music, electronics and the cosmos.
Long after the Pinder Brothers had hit the sack, these two old friends were still changing the world.
Eagle Rock Entertainment is releasing one of the all-time Classic Rock sets on August 26, Live At The Isle of Wight 1970 on CD by the Moody Blues.
Eagle Rock Entertainment is also working on a film based on the Moody Blues Performance at the 1970 Isle of Wight Festival. Mike will be interviewed this month in Los Angeles by Eagle Rock Director, Murray Lerner. The official working title of the DVD is (On The) Threshold of a Dream - The Moody Blues Live at the Isle of Wight 1970.
Mike will take Murray on a "magical mellotron tour". It should be fun for Murray, Mike, MB and Mellotron fans alike when viewing the upcoming Eagle Rock DVD!
A history of one of rock's mythical keyboards by Nick Awde will be released in September 2008. The mellotron changed rock music forever when it appeared in the 1960's. Mike has a long time connection with the mellotron (he worked in the factory as Quality Control, installing and aligning the tapes and testing the completed machines).
The mellotron allowed musicians to create legendary moments in rock history, like the intro the the Beatles' Strawberry Fields Forever and the soaring strings Mike created on the Moody Blues' Nights in White Satin.
Fans of Mike and the Mellotron will enjoy reading Nick Awde's new book on the unpredictable keyboard that musicians affectionately nicknamed "The Beast".
When the time came for a new pressing (60's lingo) of ATS, I took the opportunity to make a few changes with the help of Ken Lee Mastering. Incidentally, Ken Lee mastered a couple of our Moodies Core 7 albums for the USA.
The changes are subtle, a steam cleaning if you will. Clearer and warmer is the result. I sincerely hope you enjoy the re-mastered version. Don't forget to wind the handle.
I have not been voicing myself on the forum much in recent months, but I have enjoyed reading your posts, thoughts and ideas. It is always nice to get your perspectives on my music and the world in general.
I find this time of my life to be very contemplative and reflective. It seems that with all the baby boomers populating the earth we have more than enough accumulated wisdom to power the grid. There is still time to change the world and leave it a better place for our children's children. Even the little things we do can make a difference and your sphere of influence is wider than you think. Think love, share love and give love. Our world needs it now more than ever.
