Laura Merell, M.A. is an artist who believes the arts can play a vital role in the healing of our planet. She also enjoys creating participatory art work that allows individuals to become engaged in the creation process rather than being passive onlookers. Laura's work seeks to actively embrace a living cosmology, one that honors the sacredness and interconnectedness of all life.
In 2006, Laura wrote the Peace Proclamation. Since then, the Peace Planet Proclamation has made its way around the world to nearly all the major contenents. A delegation or the Gather The Women conference took it to Archbishop Desmond Tutu in Kenya, and then on to South Africa to Nelson Mandela. A member of the US Dept of Peace Campaign took it with her to several countries in Europe, and so on around the world. Today it has been translated into 14 different languages.
Mike discovered Laura and the Peace Planet Proclamation through longtime Moodies Fan and Friend, Barbara Hughes. Barbara is an artist, musician and did the webdesign for Peace Planet. Both Barbara and Laura are passionate believers in bringing lasting Peace to the Planet! Mike has recorded a spoken word version of Laura's message to help further her cause of teaching wisdom and spreading the practice of peace. A video is also being created by Steve Silva and will be available to view in December!
